If Mr Stanger's observations are correct, it would appear that the failure complained of in sample No.1 arose from its receiving treatment which it could not be expected to stand and not from defect in the pipe; while the other samples are pipes which did not form part of the supply and therefore have no bearing on the complaint.
6. This result would be explained if it is possible that pipes supplied under Requisition No.8 have been inadvertently mixed with the supply under Requisition 254; and if any pipes locally purchased can also have got into the work.
